Binoculars and Bonfires- Saturday, October 3

Join BRC for a guided hike at Myrick Conservation Center! Binoculars will be provided. Learn about local wildlife! Wind down by the campfire and enjoy the fall scenery. This event will take place from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at 1760 Unionville-Wawaset Road, West Chester, PA 19382.

Salt Snapshot- Wednesday, October 14

Chlorides (salts) in streams have become a rising concern. Join BRC staff and volunteers to sample over 65 sites in the Red Clay and Brandywine Watersheds for chlorides to find “hot spots” and baseline data on a localized level. This activity will begin with a short description of the impacts of chlorides on our stream at our Myrick Conservation Center location. All participants will be assigned 4-6 sites to collect a water sample on their own to bring back to the Myrick Conservation Center for testing. Plan to wear boots or shoes that can get wet. Participants will be assigned site locations based upon a brief survey sent to you after registration. Rain date: 10/16) This program will take place from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Fall Fest- Saturday, October 17

Free Fall fun for the whole family at Myrick Conservation Center! Learn about native species, make a pumpkin craft, go on a guided eco-hike, explore our pond, and more! This is a great opportunity to sample of our fall programming at BRC. Event runs from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Living History Hike- Saturday, November 7

Our regional open spaces often reflect back a long history of human use and occupation. Join BRC staff on a hike at our Chandler Mill Nature Preserve and learn about the local history spanning the last 200 years on our property and adjoining lands. This is an opportunity to access parts of the Preserve not open to visitors and explore ruins of former landowners, visit the Bucktoe Cemetery (resting place of multiple African American Colored Troops veterans from the Civil War), and explore the industrial elements that defined our creeks as part of the Red Clay Local Historic District. The history hike helps visitors imagine the landscape of the past in comparison to the woods and meadows we see today. This event is $10 per person and runs from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

Pictures with Santa and his Animals- Saturday, December 5

Celebrate the holiday season and take a picture with santa and his animals in the pine forest! Make a craft and enjoy a sweet treat! This event is $20 per person and runs from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.
