Living History Hike

November 7 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Our regional open spaces often reflect back a long history of human use and occupation. Join BRC staff on a hike at our Chandler Mill Nature Preserve and learn about the local history spanning the last 200 years on our property and adjoining lands. This is an opportunity to access parts of the Preserve not open to visitors and explore ruins of former landowners, visit the Bucktoe Cemetery (resting place of multiple African American Colored Troops veterans from the Civil War), and explore the industrial elements that defined our creeks as part of the Red Clay Local Historic District. The history hike helps visitors imagine the landscape of the past in comparison to the woods and meadows we see today.
