The lands that became the Chandler Mill Nature Preserve were part of the Bucktoe Creek Preserve, which has been managed as natural lands for native plants and animals. The lands are part of both an Audubon-designated Important Bird Area and a 30-year Cornell Lab of Ornithology bird study. Rare and migrating species are often documented on the Bucktoe Creek and Chandler Mill Preserve.
Open year round from dawn to dusk.
Due to sensitive animal and plant communities, no dogs are allowed on Preserve trails.
Chandler Mill Bridge
Closed to the public since 2011, the 47-foot-long bridge was restored in 2020 and is now accessible to pedestrians, bicycle riders and emergency vehicles only. It spans the west branch of the Red Clay Creek and is listed on the National Register for Historic Places.
