DESCRIPTION:As one of the most historic small watersheds in the nation\, the Brandywine-Christina supplies drinking water to over a half million people in Delaware and Pennsylvania and supports $1.6 billion in annual economic activity and over 100\,000 jobs. \nThis conference will include highlights from the newly released Brandywine-Christina State of the Watershed Report and showcase projects implemented by partners throughout the watershed. Following lunch the conference attendees are invited to attend a field tour to have a first-hand view of innovative agriculture practices and discuss water supply options and strategies for protecting source water in the watershed. SUMMARY:Time for Turkeys
DESCRIPTION:The Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Hunter Education division will host Time for Turkeys on Sunday\, April 8\, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Myrick Conservation Center.  This program will introduce participants to the world of the Wild Turkey and provide tips for how to prepare for the upcoming Spring Gobbler season.  Try hands-on activities like turkey calling\, camouflage techniques\, and decoy strategies while learning from experienced turkey hunters. \n All ages are welcome\, and the program is free to the public.  Pre-registration is required (limited to first 50 enrolled) by contacting Derek Stoner\, Hunting Outreach Coordinator\, at 717-787-4250\, ext. 3319 or derstoner@pa.gov      The program will be held rain or shine. \n All participants will receive a free turkey call and an illustrated guidebook to successful turkey hunting.

DESCRIPTION:Wednesdays\, October 4\, 11\, 25\, November 8\, 29\, December 6 \n7:00-9:00 p.m. \nAges 11-15 \nMembers: $125 \nThis very popular program is led by Jim Jordan\, BRC’s Executive Director\, Derek Stoner and others\, and is offered in partnership with BRC\, Delaware Nature Society and Natural Wildlife Federation. Students will learn the art and science of waterfowling\, and the rich American Heritage associated with waterfowling\, and the critical role that hunters play in conservation. They will study wildlife management\, habitat protection and conservation. In addition\, decoy carving\, retriever training\, shotgun shooting techniques and waterfowl calling.  All students will have the opportunity to obtain their hunter safety certification. This program meets at Ashland Nature Center in Hockessin\, DE. Parent participation encouraged\, but not required. (No additional charge for parents.) DESCRIPTION:8:00am – 10:00am \nMembers: $10   Nonmembers: $15 \nDuring a guided walk\, explore the varied habitats of the Myrick Conservation Center as we search for migrating birds like warblers\, sparrows\, and raptors.  Learn about the migratory patterns of birds that travel through the Brandywine Valley and how you can better locate these birds during your own time afield.  We will utilize a spotting scope to provide the best views of the birds.  Bring your own binoculars if you have them.  All participants will receive a copy of The Birds of the Myrick Center guide and checklist.
